Remove Weather from Taskbar Easily – Windows 10

January 14, 2022 by Arun Leave a Comment

For some people, the real estate available on Windows 10 taskbar is precious. I am one among you, if you too appreciate more available space on the Taskbar.

However, the climate information available on Windows 10 taskbar takes too much place (and sometimes peace) out of what’s available to us.

The Best Free Annotation Tool for Presenters

October 19, 2020 by Arun Leave a Comment

If you’re into presentations or teaching something through screen sharing online with others, you know you cannot annotate, highlight nor zoom into the screen while presenting.

This is possible in some presentation software like Microsoft PowerPoint to some extent but not without showing the audience what you are actually doing in front of them.

But here’s what’s possible after you read this guide post / watch this video:

  • You could draw,
  • write directly on the screen,
  • highlight directly over most desktop applications including the presentation software and web pages.

Here’s how to get them done.

Just head on to this website which is from Microsoft and download the ZoomIt software.

Once the zip file gets downloaded click on it to open it – this only contains the exe file and is a portable file – you only need to double-click to use it.

This exe file opens up an options dialog box. Just go through this video demo for a detailed walk-through of how to make use of all these options to suit your situation.

In case you are in the Teaching profession or in any training Department within your company then this is a very useful tool to keep handy.

How to Get Mac Cursor for Windows PC

September 2, 2020 by Arun Leave a Comment

In this blog post, we will see how to change the Windows 10 default cursor scheme to Apple mac OS cursor sprites set

With this, we can easily change the mouse pointer for Windows to give the look and feel of Mac OS mouse cursor set.

First and before we set to change the default cursor scheme, it’s a best practice to first check and see what DPI (Dots Per Inch) setting does our PC have.

This helps in getting the best-suited mac OS cursor set for our computer because if the DPI is set to 100% then you might need the El Capitan cursors and if the DPI is set to > 100% then you will need the macOS Sierra cursors (just like how I did – you can see a walkthrough demo in the video provided below).

How to check your Windows computer’s DPI setting:

Right click on the Start button and click on Settings.

Search for Display settings in the search bar.

Here, you’ll see the Scale and layout section with the scaling percentage.

Now, depending on the scaling percentage your computer has, choose one of the two links given below.

Download Mac cursor for Windows from these links:

El Capitan cursors for Windows (100% DPI): https://www.deviantart.com/in-dolly/art/Updated-ElCapitan-cursors-593804414

macOS Sierra cursors for Windows (Higher DPI): https://www.deviantart.com/in-dolly/art/macOS-Sierra-Retina-cursors-650823654

That’s how you can change the Windows’ default cursor scheme with the fancy macOS cursor scheme.

Hope this helped you, if so please let me know in the comments below.

May 18, 2018 by Arun Leave a Comment

Now that Google input tools for Windows is gone, how do we type in Indic languages in a Word document?

Fortunately, there is a workaround!

We use the Google Input Tools for Chrome extension to do that!

Here’s how:

  • Simply create (or use your existing) a Live account with Word online here: https://office.live.com/start/Word.aspx (opens in a new tab!)
  • Once you are in, you will see that, you could either start from a new Word doc or simply upload your existing document by clicking on this button here:

  • Once done, we can now use the Google Input Tools extension within Chrome (install from here). All you have to do is to simply activate the extension, and type the Indic word in English and the words pop up on the screen.

Here’s a sample:

Bonus tip

You can even assign keyboard shortcuts to switch between English and other Indic languages. Click on the extension, and click on ‘Keyboard Shortcut Settings’ to map your shortcuts.

Customize your keyboard shortcuts here:

CAUTION

After downloading the file from Word Online, your INDIC texts could be a set of square boxes like this:

In case you see jumbled and funny characters like the ones above, simply select the text and change to any font (preferably to the Indian Language font that you are familiar with).

Hope you now got an idea of how to make use of the Google input tools to continue writing in Indian languages within Word documents!
